“Mindfulness Matters” – An Introduction

 

Who is it for:

These three hour sessions aim to support anyone new to, and curious about mindfulness, wishing to take some time out of their busy lives and to learn more about the potential benefits a regular practice has to offer.    All sessions will be facilitated by trained and skilled teachers who have themselves been practising mindfulness for many years.

 

What is it:

At these sessions participants can expect to:

  • Hear about how and why the ancient practice of mindfulness has been embraced in the West, with reference to some of the neuroscience that supports its effectiveness.
  • Learn more of what’s meant by formal and informal “mindfulness meditation practices”
  • Have an opportunity to participate in a range of different mindfulness practices and approaches that can be helpfully applied in everyday life situations.
  • Be given an opportunity to raise any general mindfulness based questions
  • Receive further information about a range of available training and support programmes to help those interested in taking it further.
  • Receive some useful “Take Home Tips and Hints” for dealing with stressful situations.

The format of the Course:

Each session will include a variety of methods including teaching inputs, discussion and a range of short guided mindfulness practices.   Some background to each of the practices will be given, followed by the opportunity to reflect on your experience of them.
