Mindfulness involves learning to direct our attention to our present moment experience inside our body and mind and in the outside world as well, with an open minded curiosity and acceptance. Rather than worrying about what has happened or what might happen mindfulness can help us to respond more skillfully to whatever is happening right now. This can help us to let go of unhelpful mental habits, judgements and impulses, making way for a calmer, clearer and kinder outlook.
"Time gives you choice.
Choices, skillfully made, lead to freedom.
You don't have to be swept away by your feelings.
You can respond with wisdom and kindness rather than habit and reactivity"
Bhante Henepola Gunaratana
